The stars came out for the Do The Right Thing Block Party and Colorstream’s Nataki Hewling was on the scene.  She got up close and personal with some of your cast faves including the legendary Rosie Perez(Tina).  The event was lit!  On a stage erected in the middle of the street various celebrities took their turn praising the now Oscar Winner Spike Lee.    Power  actor, Omar Hardwick  took the opportunity to not only make fun of Spike and praise Spike but also to speak on matters pertaining to a sea of Brown and Black folks.

Th Block Party happened in none other than Brooklyn to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Do The Right Thing which debuted in theaters in the summer of 1989. The block party environment created a fantastically street essence complete with a DJ and Public Enemy’s Fight the Power blaring through the air among other hip hop classics.

Original cast members in attendance other than Perez included Roger Guenveur Smith(Smiley) who famously mouthed Mookie’s name probably none other could and Giancarlo Esposito(Buggin Out) made a show of support briefly.  Fans remember Esposito for his popular line in the movie, “How come there’s no black people on the wall!”   – Article written by Colorstream Media Editor, Crystal Johnson

Watch The Trailer – If you were born after 1989, note that much of the big name or highly regarded actors featured in the trailer were not celebrities.   Do The Right Thing served as a dynamic launch pad for many careers.
